AUB ScholarWorks: Responsibilities

AUB ScholarWorks is the institutional repository of the Amerian University of Beirut. It showcases the research, scholarly and creative output of AUB's community.

Researcher Rights and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that materials submitted comply with ScholarWorks content guidelines.
  • Ensure that materials are submitted in a manner consistent with Copyright laws.
  • Temporarily restrict access (embargo) to an item if necessary to comply with publisher’s requirements.
  • Describe the materials as appropriate within ScholarWorks submission form.
  • Agree to the ScholarWorks License Agreement.
  • Select and assign a Creative Commons license for submitted materials.
  • Request the modification or removal or removed of items in ScholarWorks in cases justified

 

AUB Department Rights and Responsibilities

  • Make decisions about Collection definition.
  • Arrange for submission workflow and description of content.
  • Decide on content and who may submit content within the Collection.
  • Notify ScholarWorks staff of any organizational changes affecting submissions.
  • Notify ScholarWorks staff of the need to modify or withdraw a submission after it was published.
  • Request and fill a metadata form to reflect the content in the Collection.
  • Understand and follow University policies related to ScholarWorks.

University Libraries Rights and Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and instruction on ScholarWorks submission process.
  • Make sure content and metadata follow the submission standards and guidelines.
  • Amend metadata for items in ScholarWorks.
  • Make the content publicly available and apply embargo restrictions when required.
  • Update and maintain the structure and content of the repository.
  • Apply measures to preserve content using digital preservation measures.
  • Support and maintain the institutional repository system.
  • Perform appraisal for long-term archiving within thirty years of the creation of a Collection.
  • Comply with AUB policies on issues that affect ScholarWorks.
  • In the absence of a Community/Collection administration, content is managed by the University Libraries staff .
