Why Deposit Content in Scholarworks?
Visibility and Discoverability
Self-archiving
Depending on the publisher's policies, access to your work could be limited, and there is a risk of losing access to your work if the publisher becomes defunct. Self-archiving in the University repository opens other stable avenues of access for your work and for long-term documentation and preservation of your scholarly work.
Negotiate your Authors' Rights with the Publisher
It is worth mentioning that as the author, you must always negotiate your rights with the publisher and stress on getting permission to publish in an institutional repository whenever possible for self-archiving and wider dissemination.
Persistent Identifier
ScholarWorks gives every submitted material a persistent identifier, or permanent link URl that does not change, ensuring links to their submitted material always work. By depositing their work to ScholarwWorks, researchers will immediately get a stable URI for their publications or grey literature.

Open Access is the default status of a submission. Nevertheless, you can fill out a waiver asking for an embargo period before your submission becomes accessible. Submission to the repository is made available under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative, unless the submitter chooses another CC license.
