LIBCAT - Library Catalog: Number Search

A guide on how to use the Online Library Catalog to find books, theses, course reserves and other library materials, and on how to create an account allowing you to put items on hold, renew items online, and save searches.

Number Search

  • Search for Call Number 
    Used to find titles which have been assigned a particular call number, click for a listing of the Dewey Decimal Classification. eg. 300.43, T:1007 or t:1007, MIC or mic...
    • Enter the first part of the call number in the Call Number box,
      • e.g. 330 will retrieve titles about Economics and its subdivisions.
    • A list of titles having call number starting with 330 will be retrieved.
    • Click on the title to view the bibliographic information
       
  •  Search for Medical Call Number
    Used to find titles which have been assigned a particular call number from the National Library of Medicine Clasification
    • Enter the first part of the call number in the SML Call Number box,
      • e.g. WN will retrieve titles about Radiology and its subdivisions. 
    • A list of titles having call number starting with WN will be retrieved.
       
  • Search for ISBN or ISSN Number
    Used to find titles which have been assigned a particular ISBN or ISSN.
    • Enter the standard number (ISBN for books, or ISSN for journals) you want to find in the ISBN/ISSN box. Type the number as it appears. Punctuation and spaces can be omitted if desired e.g. 157387003X
