LIBCAT - Library Catalog: Results Page / Email, Export ...

A guide on how to use the Online Library Catalog to find books, theses, course reserves and other library materials, and on how to create an account allowing you to put items on hold, renew items online, and save searches.

Results Screen

Results are listed by alphabetical order and the following details are displayed:

  1. Location
  2. Call No: Each book has a call no. which tells you where the book is exactly located in the stacks.
  3. Information: Standard loan means that the item can be checked out of the library; Building use means that the item can be used inside the library only; Short loan means that the item can be borrowed for 24 hrs only.
  4. Status: it tells the user if the item is available or already on loan. If the desired item is on loan under status the user can check the due date ie. DUE [12-01-01] = [2012-January-01] (due date means the date on which the item should be returned to the library). In process means that the item is in the cataloging process and will be available soon to the public.

Book Cover

Click on the book cover whenever it is available to receive additional information about the book such as:

  1. Table of contents
  2. Summary
  3. Author's notes
  4. Reviews

 

Email, Export, Save or Print Search Results

  • Conduct a search
  • Select one or more records and click on Save marked records OR click on  Save all on pageif you want to save the whole page
  • Click on on the top of the page
  • Click on Save All  then on  to e-mail, export, save or print records


      I.
E-mail records

    • ... Click on Export Saved to e-mail records 
    • Choose Brief or Full Display from Format of List
    • Choose E-mail from Sent List To
    • Enter your email address
    • Click Submit

         
       II.
Save/Print records

    • ... Click on Export Saved to save or print records
    • Choose Brief or Full Display from Format of List
    • Records can be saved either in html format or in text file
      To save records in html format choose Screen from Sent List To            To save records in text file choose Local Disk from Sent List To     
    • Click Submit
    • Click on File, then on Save As to save your records on your desktop
    • You can print your record from your desktop
       

         III. Export records from LIBCAT into RefWorks 

    • ... Click on Export Saved to view and export records 
    • Choose EndNote/RefWorks from Format of List
    • Choose Local Disk from Send List To
    • Click Submit
    • A text format file will be automatically created in a new window
    • To save records you can either

         I.
      Choose Save to directly save records
                  -
      Rename your document
                  -
      Select Text Document
                  -
      Click Save
                  -
      Close Notepad window
      OR 


         II. Choose Open to view and save records
                  -
      Use Save As function from Notepad to save records
                  -
      Rename your document
                  -
      Select Text Document (*.txt) as file type
                  -
      Click Save
                  -
      Close Notepad window
        

 

    • Login to your RefWorks account (enter your RefWorks username and password)
    • Select References/ Import from the toolbar OR go to Quick Access and click on Import
    • A new window will open.

      To import records select the following parameters:
      • Import From: From Text File
      • Import Filter/Data Source: Innovative Interfaces (Endnote/RefWorks)
      • Database: EndNote/RefWorks Format
      • Select Text File: Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer   
      • Encoding: UTF-8

    • Click on Import
    • Finally, click View Last imported Folder to review imported records
