As an individual user, the ethical use of generative AI involve several components that you need to consider.

  • Bias: Generative AI is known to produce bias.
  • Reliability: Some AI models can produce false responses (hallucinations), which can then lead to disinformation.
  • Prompting: The way you phrase your research question or prompt in the AI tool can lead to varied responses and greatly influence the quality of the outputs.
  • Privacy: Most AI models require an account to use their site even if it is free.
  • Copyright: The content generated by AI tools may inadvertently reproduce copyrighted material
