Researchers invest substantial time in data collection and processing. Starting data management planning upfront will make it easier and more efficient to work with data both during research and in the long run. Data management sets the rules, processes, and standards to follow for efficient data handling. It creates a common basis for researchers collecting and processing data for the same project. As a result, data management helps prevent data loss, errors, discrepancies, and corruption.
It is important to document and share research data management elements in a written Research Data Management Plan (RDP)
