EDUC 218: Children's Literature

This book takes a developmental approach to children's literature. By combining children's literature with developmental psychology, future teachers and librarians will have a better understanding of the appropriate book for a child at a certain stage of their life. Each genre is covered within a chapter devoted to a certain developmental stage.

The book shows readers how children's literature can capture the attention of K-8 students. Covers learning about children's literature, understanding children's responses to literature, the history of children's literature, picture books and all the genres (historical fiction, biography, etc.) and more.

Drawing on interview material with best-selling children's book authors and workshops conducted in a wide variety of schools, this text embraces the current agenda for a more imaginative, creative and flexible English curriculum.
