FINANCE 210: Financial Data

This guide is a tool for students taking the FINA210 course at OSB. It helps them find resources and retrieve data to complete the required course assignment(s).

Logging-In to Compustat

  1. Go to Databases and find database by subject Business and Management
  2. Select WRDS (Wharton Research Data Services)
  3. Contact us to get the credentials (jftref@aub.edu.lb) 

Retrieving Company Financial Data from Compustat

  1. Click on the “Get Data” tab and then select Compustat-Capital IQ from the Vendors list.
  2. Scroll down and click on "Tools"                                                                               
  3. To get the balance sheet and income statement of the desired company in one file, select "Complete Financial Statements (XLS)"
  4. Select the date range you want. Annual data in Compustat date back to 1950.
  5. Find the code of your company in Code Lookup and submit your query.
  6. You will receive a “.htm” file. Let the page refresh until you receive a “.xls” file with the needed financial data.
