The collection documents the development of the Arab press during the British Mandate Period of 1917-48. Many of the titles included in the collection were published at the beginning of the twentieth century and are particularly rare.
Established in 1908 by Jurji Habib Hanania (1864-1920), al-Quds is considered the first privately owned public daily newspaper in Palestine. The Center for Palestine Studies (CPS) at Columbia University in conjunction with the Institute for Palestine Studies in Ramallah, is proud to launch the archives of this forgotten gem over a century after its birth in Jerusalem.
