Since 2011, proceeds from the Endowment have been used to grant Makhlouf Haddadin Awards to distinguished graduating chemistry undergraduate and graduate students. As of 2015, the Endowment proceeds are also used to fund an annual Makhlouf Haddadin lectureship.

2015 Makhlouf Haddadin Lecture

The Makhlouf Haddadin Lectureship was inaugurated on March 18, 2015. The first Makhlouf Haddadin Lecture was given by Prof. Joseph W. Perry from the School of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Georgia Institute of Technology. Prof. Perry’s talk was entitled, “Organic and Hybrid Materials for Photonics and Electronics”.

2016 Makhlouf Haddadin Symposium

On the occasion of the 150th Anniversary of the American University of Beirut and its Faculty of Arts & Sciences, the 2016 Makhlouf Haddadin Symposium was organized on Oct 20-21, 2016. Seven world-renowned chemists delivered plenary Makhlouf Haddadin Lectures during this symposium.

2017 Makhlouf Haddadin Lecture

Prof. M. G. Finn, Chair of the School of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Georgia Institute of Technology, delivered the 2017 Makhlouf Haddadin Lecture on February 6, 2017. The title of Prof. Finn's talk was “Click Reactions and Protein Nanoparticles: Building Functional Structures with Chemistry and Molecular Biology". Prof. Finn also delivered a public talk entitled, “Research as a Career: Publishing and Other Matters" on February 7, 2017. In this public talk, he talked about scientific publishing (introduction and basics, peer review, copyrights and ethics of scholarly publishing, and what editors look for).
