Resources for Online Teaching and Learning: Social Sciences: Open Educational Resources (OER)

WHAT IS OER?

Open Educational Resources (OER) are teaching, learning and research materials freely available in the public domain or under an open license. These materials can be used, revised and shared with few or no constraints depending on the license.

OER Materials include textbooks, videos, articles, multimedia, images, software and much more.

PREPRINT AND POSTPRINT SERVERS

Preprint and Postprint Servers

Preprint servers allow scholars to make their work freely available to the public prior to publication. Postprint servers allow researchers to make their accepted but unformatted version of their manuscripts available free to the public. Below are some preprint and postprint servers:

PsyArXiv is a preprint server in the field of psychology and psychological sciences.  It allows researchers to post working papers, unpublished work, and articles under review, making them available to other researchers and to the public.

SocArXiv is an open access platform for social scientists to upload working papers, preprints, and published papers, with the option to link data and code.

The Winnower “is an open access online scholarly publishing platform that employs open post-publication peer review.”
