About Open Science

Open science is a set of principles and practices that aim to make scientific research from all fields accessible to everyone for the benefits of scientists and society as a whole. Open science is about making sure not only that scientific knowledge is accessible but also that the production of that knowledge itself is inclusive, equitable and sustainable.

As per UNESCO "Open Science has the potential of making the scientific process more transparent, inclusive and democratic.  It is increasingly recognized as a critical accelerator for the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and a true game changer in bridging the science, technology and innovation gaps and fulfilling the human right to science."

Key Principles

  1. Open Access: Making scientific publications freely available to the public.
  2. Open Data: Sharing research data openly
  3. Open Educational Resources
