A typologically organized archive of digital images with accompanying educational materials. Its purpose is to serve as an educational tool for teachers and scholars of landscape history affiliated with schools and universities.

Access to maps for all regions of the world. Coverage is mostly 19th and 20th centuries with some going back to 980 C.E.

For each country and region information is given on the size, total length of coastline, percent of Earth's land occupied by the country, population, description and maps.

Provides discoverability and facilitates access to geospatial resources. The resources in the portal are selected and curated by librarians and geospatial specialists at ten research institutions in the Big Ten Academic Alliance. The geoportal connects users to digital geospatial resources, including GIS datasets, web services, and digitized historical maps from multiple data clearinghouses and library catalogs.
