Open Access Publishing

This guide highlights open access publishing for AUB affiliates as well as self-archiving at AUB. It also provides information and resources on author's rights, open access publishing, what to do before publishing plus some venues

Author's Copyrights

Before transferring copyright, authors should read and understand the copyright agreements they sign with publishers. They should also consider including an addendum to ensure certain rights to reuse and share their work. For more on this, refer to

Transferring Copyrights

Transferring copyrights do not need to be all or nothing. When signing an agreement with a publisher the author may:

  1. Transfer all of his rights to the publisher
  2. Transfer the copyright to the publisher but retain certain rights
  3. Retain all of his rights and license the rights to the publisher

Use the Scholar's Copyright Addendum Engine, which will help you generate a PDF form that you can attach to a journal publisher's copyright agreement to ensure that you retain certain rights.

Publish & Preserve your Paper

AUB researchers may deposit research-oriented publications in AUB ScholarWorksthe institutional repository of the American University of Beirut. All submissions to the repository are made available under the terms of the Creative commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 License.

Register in ORCID to identify yourself as a researcher and to create a Researcher Identity (ID). Click here to get started.
ORCID provides a persistent digital identifier that distinguishes you from every other researcher with the same name or initials. Use this identifier when applying for funding or submitting your manuscripts.
Need further help in creating your ORCID ID, please contact Mr. Albert Haddad (email: ah75@aub.edu.lb)
